The Proposed Waikato District Plan 2018 (Stage 1) was notified on Wednesday 18 July 2018. This document is the first to amalgamate the Franklin District Plan and Waikato District Plan into a single planning document. Previously one needed to refer to the document that related to the particular part of the District that was relevant. This creates commonality across the District but at the same time removes particular provisions of the Franklin Plan which may have been more beneficial to some landowners.
The Proposed plan can be read online on the Waikato District Council website. Public submissions are now open which need to made before 5pm Tuesday 9 October, 2018.
A proposed plan can be difficult to read as it tends to be a large document. The website contains information on the process, how submissions can be made, an option to contact Council with questions, as well as a full copy of the document and planning maps.
